The Bearded Collie
Long ago in Scotland, high up in the glen
Bearded Collies took their place to help the shepherd men.
Shaggy dogs with hair so long, who loved to run and play
But also knew it was their job to herd the sheep all day.
Their
colors were very different, some black which turned to gray
Some brown which looked almost silver in the dawning of the day
Some had spots of white on their feet and on the tips of their tails
Some were solid colored as they walked those Scottish trails.
Now they've come to America and all around the world
Man has taught them many things besides te way to herd
They've learned to do agility and track and to obey
But mostly what they love to do is run and jump and play.
They're loving dogs who hug and kissbut need a lot of care
You have to keep them clean and fed and brush their long thick hair
You have to give them exercise or give them work to do
'Cause if you don't, they may do things you just don't want them to.
They're silly dogs who love to clown and easily learn tricks
You can train them with your words or treats or sometimes just with "clicks"
They'll try so hard to please you, 'cause they just need to be loved
Yes, Beardies are a breed of dog you just can't have enough of.
