Brave Beardies
Bearded Collies are a healthy breed; a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky, full of life breed. They were originally raised to be herders, and many still do, but they are versatile enough to be successful in conformation, agility, obedience and tracking, too.
This year we pay tribute to the Brave Beardies, who have had life-threatening diseases and infirmities such as Addison's, Hemolytic Anemia, Lupus, IBD, amputation, and a myriad of other health problems. Some are battling two or more of these deadly diseases. Some have been battling these afflictions for years. During their healthy times, many have participated and excelled in various dog sports. They have been winners in their named activities, but most of all they are winners in life!
These gentle souls represent the best in our breed. They are courageous, brave, stoic, and face each day with determination and love. Through this tenacity, they teach their humans many lessons: patience, strength, and the capacity to appreciate each day as it comes. They have the power to transform us and our lives, and their indomitable spirits provide a beacon of hope for all who know them. They are, indeed, living miracles!
In keeping with the aims of this project, and in honor of the brave Beardie representatives in this calendar, a portion of the proceeds from each calendar will go to Beardie health organizations around the world. Through this research, we hope to eradicate these diseases.
